for me, this seems like another dry season (kind of sad, so soon after summer of last year also being really dry, though thankfully this season has at least a couple of things i'm interested in) >Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete i'm a huge fan of the manga, so this anime adaptation is...interesting, to say the least. here's hoping it's not super toned-down or anything. >Metallic Rouge looks kind of interesting. i might give it a shot. >Kizumonogatari i had no clue this was releasing so soon lol. apparently this is getting a release in american theatres, so i might try to see it there

I'm watching Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete. I don't even know why, I dropped the manga because I was too embarrassed by the ecchi, but I liked the premise. Just watched the first episode, it was nice enough, but I'm not afraid to drop it again. Also watching the picking up trash Tamer anime. That was a manga I liked a lot, but I ended up not following it. I am glad it got an anime, perhaps I can pick it up again. I'm curious about Dungeon Meshi, that a lot of people seem to praise, and the princess torture, which looks interesting. I might try to watch other things, but I'm unsure. I'd like to watch at least one original anime.

Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete, Dungeon Meshi, and Sasaki to P-chan are my main three picks for this season. The first episode of Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete was far better than I expected, and it's nice to see that HIDIVE got the AT-X version which only has mild video censoring; I didn't actually notice any in the first episode though, so maybe that'll only pop up as the show gets even more ecchi over time. As for Sasaki to P-chan, I'm really just watching it because it has big name seiyuu. >>751 Dungeon Meshi aired today and was pretty good... about what you'd expect from the premise. Comfy fantasy comedy series about them traveling through the dungeon eating monsters, which is a bit reminiscent of how the characters in Made in Abyss had to survive at some parts. With that all said, the comedy did fall flat for me in some parts and I didn't really feel any sort of attachment to the characters. Hopefully that improves with time.

First week roundup: Liked the first episode of MahoAko. Really liked it, actually. I don't... get excited from watching ecchi, but I just like the idea of a character becoming a villain after admiring heroes. Mofumofu isekai was very cute. Dungeon Meshi was good enough, but I guess I wouldn't say it was amazing. Although I did like the characters, except for the big eared freak. I don't like big ears. Princess torture was funny, but she gave up so easily during the first episode that I wonder what more can happen during the rest of the series. Pon no Michi was alright, but the girls are ugly and I know nothing about Mahjong. The cour 2 anime that I watched, Frieren and Kusuriya's, had very good episodes, though I wish they'd tune down the recap sequences a bit >>753 How is Sasaki to P-chan? Curious since I saw some people who liked it, but the premise isn't much my thing. Hoping the Tamer anime starts strongly

>>793 Sasaki to P-chan's first episode was pretty fun and definitely better than I was expecting, started off with a 48 minute premiere. It's also less isekai-oriented than most people think seeing as the MC just bounces between both worlds and each, at least for now, have their own separate stories. The first episode had a far larger focus on modern Japan than the fantasy world, so much so that I'm curious to see where the fantasy world's story will go from here on. It also has a cute yandere JC, so that's a plus. >Princess torture It was pretty funny but as you said she gave up so quick that I'm not sure how they're going to keep it from starting to feel stale. The jokes in the first episode were already starting to feel repetitive, so hopefully they're able to keep it fresh since I do really like the characters & animation.

First episode of Saijaku Tamer was nice, but I was hoping for a bit more. I think it will get better from here onwards, but eh. Started watching two villainess anime, the level 99 one and the loop 7 one. Both had slow starts but really good 2nd episodes, so I'm happy I picked them up. >>795 I must thank you. Sasaki to P-chan is amazing, never expected that. Definitely one of the highlights this season.

Second episode of Hungry Princess was a lot better than the first, especially since they added more variety to the gags used. New characters seem pretty fun too, so I'm hoping the series remains more like this from here on rather than solely being about food. >>813 Glad to hear you liked it! It's definitely one of my favorites this season so I'm hoping it keeps its momentum. Saijaku Tamer was fairly slow and not a whole lot happened... which isn't necessarily a bad thing, since it does seem like the first episode was primarily setup for future episodes, but I hope it doesn't remain this way. I'm really liking Level 99 & Loop 7, probably since I have a weak spot for shows like these (Bakarina, Tearmoon, Last Boss... starting to see a pattern here). Loop 7 especially seems like it'll be a pretty comfy watch, though the cover makes it seem like it'll be a reverse harem sort of show so curious to see how that ends up.

i've been kind of depressed recently, so i haven't really been in the mood to watch much anime at all... that said, i did get eventually force myself to watch the two shows i had planned for this season. so far... >Mahoako >>750 >here's hoping it's not super toned-down or anything. wow did i get blown the fuck out here, it's gone well above and beyond my expectations. now i'm super excited for alice, my favorite character, to show up. >Metallic Rouge this one also exceeded my expectations, i'm enjoying it way more than i thought i would, i'm not usually into cyberpunk stories. maybe the robot autist is carrying the anime for me. rouge is very cute. i'll be very surprised if Metallic Rouge doesn't become as popular as something like LycoReco at least, it feels like an anime that's made from the ground-up to appeal to people who don't like anime (episodic structure, heavy western/noir influence, futuristic setting, people keep comparing it to blade runner)
>>
>>820 >mahoako I love it and I love her. don't know what this other one is. gonna start it!
>>
>>820 >i'm enjoying it way more than i thought i would, i'm not usually into cyberpunk stories well now that i've dropped the show, this is kind of awkward. it's awkwardly paced, none of the characters (except rouge) are interesting to me, and it's very westaboo (not in a good way, though i'd argue there's no such thing as a "good" westaboo anime mahoako continues to deliver, though. my daughterwife was introduced and they did her justice. i really wish she wasn't aged up as often during some scenes, but seeing how she's treated in the manga, beggars can't be choosers, i guess.

As we have reached the middle of the season, it would perhaps be interesting to say my thoughts on what I'm watching. The two second cour shows have been fantastic. Well, I already liked their manga versions, but Frieren and Kusuriya no Hitorigoto have been really nice with no major complaints. MahoAko is really good. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would, and I still love the premise and the characters. Dungeon Meshi has been nice. The characters are cute, and the episodes are great. Sasaki to P-chan is nice too. I really like how it has several different plotlines happening at the same time that aren't really forced to converge. Saijaku Tamer... well, I already liked the manga adaptation, so it was a given that I'd like the anime. Some of the changes compared to what I had read worried me a bit, but the last episode was really good. It's one episode behind the other shows so the comparison is not really fair. Pon no Michi is great, despite barely having any mahjong in it. I love that genre, and it's honestly the one of the few anime this season with more than one character I really loved. Loop 7 Villainess is really good... I'm glad I kept watching it. Thought I'd hate the tenka's but both brothers really grew on me, and the main character is simply sensational. Mofumofu nadenade Isekai is the only one that's up to episode 7 already. It's good, and as it stays honest to its premise (and its nicely expansive notion of animal) it's a good watch. Level 99 Villainess has one of my favorite characters this season, the Dorkness. She's great, but the rest of the show isn't bad either. The ugly 3D is a shame. Himesama Torture has consistently surprised me with how they manage to not feel repetitive. It's good; not the strongest this season, but I see no reason to drop it. Still in doubt if it's possible to get to the end of the season without getting boring, but so far so good.
