Upcoming games thread! Anonymous 09/22/2023 (Fri) 20:00:30 Id:037e5e No. 357
a thread where you talk about games that aren't out yet. really, i just didn't want to make separate threads for every new game that i saw that i wanted to share. there's this dungeon-crawling jrpg that was shown off at Tokyo Game Show that looks cute. it's called Witch and Lillies. it looks like Etrian Odyssey, but your party members can date each other. https://youtu.be/DFh1Ni9fOzk?feature=shared
>>
other upcoming games that i'm excited for: Decapolice - jrpg where you're a team of police officers capturing criminals. it looks really cool. it's made by Level 5, the same studio that did Yo-Kai Watch, Professor Layton, and Inazuma Eleven, so i'm happy to see that they're still around, i remember hearing that they went bankrupt at one point https://youtu.be/_13U-qYoy6c?feature=shared Another Code: Recollection: remasters of an older mystery/puzzle series that was originally on the DS and Wii. we never got the second game in the US, so i'm happy that i'll finally get a chance to play it, it looks interesting. also, i think the protagonist is hot. https://youtu.be/m6i9BGlGQyU?feature=shared
>>
>>358 It's a shame Another Code: Recollection isn't coming to PC I've been wanting to play some puzzle game like this on my Steam Deck The other day, I searched for Professor Layton games on Steam, with hopes they had been ported, just like Ace Attorney, but no luck Guess I'll just emulate it then
>>
>>359 a lot of DS games are very specific to that hardware, so yeah, it is kind of unfortunate if you don't have one. ...you can borrow my DS, but you have to give it back
>>
big news for the...5 other Compile Heart/Idea Factory fans out there https://rpgamer.com/2023/10/compile-heart-reveals-new-titles-in-development/ >two entirely new IPs >Touhou SRPG >New Mainline Neptunia game >Death End re;Quest spinoff (+new mainline game coming later) >New Sorcery Saga (in collaboration with Sega) i think i came when i heard the news this is actually pretty old news at this point but i hesitated to talk about it here for some reason

the open beta for Under Night In-Birth II: [Sys:Celes] is in a few hours! i haven't really been following the pre-release for this, so a lot of the changes are gonna be totally new to me... the full game releases next febuary!
>>
>>453 i played the beta for a few hours! so far it just kind of feels like more Under Night In-Birth, which is about as much as i wanted from a sequel lol my favorite characters are still fun to use my only gripe so far is the soundtrack, for some reason the composer opted to remix all of the older songs instead of using new compositions, so the quality of each remix varies wildly, with some remixes having new parts added that feel out of place (some songs seemingly just have a random guitar thrown in for no real reason, i always liked the soundtrack because it usually had more synth/electronic elements whimanded to the whole "nighttime" feeling of the game, so adding random guitar solos into older songs kind of ruins it). even with the remixes i like, in most cases, i would rather just listen to the old versions. i like the opening. https://youtu.be/vIw8aRAB36Y?si=fVkE_QK1lOZr34WH

i found out some of alicesoft's staff left and started their own studio one of their games is called Go Hell Go and it looks interesting https://youtu.be/F7-k_96tyd8?feature=shared https://youtu.be/F7-k_96tyd8?feature=shared
>>
the winter 2023 indie games expo is live right now! ...i'm about 3 hours late. personally, i'm only watching for info about only one (maybe two) games, but there still might be some other interesting games here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyOmPElTSE0

>>505 the trailers for the two games i mentioned! not too much shown off that i didn't already know, but still cool. https://youtu.be/uNBeLv56uW4?feature=shared https://youtu.be/RYZ-jvCRJA4?feature=shared
>>
>>357 sega just came out swinging >New Jet Set Radio >New Crazy Taxi >New Shinobi >New Golden Axe >more stuff unannounced https://youtu.be/0VHYLJR9pNg?feature=shared genuinely wasn't expecting any of this, highlight of the night for me. i'm still reeling from it...
>>
Where's the best place to find out more about this stuff? It's really hard for me to keep up recently
>>
>>520 uhh...youtube, i guess? the game awards just ended... keeping tabs on games i like just comes naturally to me, so i wouldn't really be able to do a good job of answering that...are there any games in specific that're coming out later that you're excited for?
>>
>>358 that Another Code game had a demo shadowdropped, and i probably wouldn't have found out about it had i not checked 4chan's /v/ the other day... the story seems...mildly interesting, though the gameplay can range from "kind of interesting" to "kind of boring"; it's still a mystery/puzzle game, but it has a lot of those "movie game" quirks that seem to be becoming more commonplace (slow movement speed, slow over-the-shoulder camera). some of the puzzles in the demo were really cool, there was one puzzle where you had to physically rotate the controller to shake an object out of a net. honestly, playing this on the switch makes me more curious about how this played on the DS originally, i've heard the DS version had some insane puzzles where you had to close the system and then open it back up. i think the game is really visually pretty, the character models in particular are really nice and very well animated and expressive. i want to kiss ashley all over her face.

>>488 i found out that you can just download the character portraits for this game straight from the website lol https://www.entergram.co.jp/gohellgo i wonder if these are the same character designers from dohna dohna? whoever's in charge there is doing a good job, i like this Killik character a lot

>>633 update: i was able to buy uni 2! my copy should arrive tomorrow! it's no longer an "upcoming" game, though, so it'll be graduating from this thread... in other news, the recent Nintendo Direct partner showcase aired a few hours ago, and in the japanese airing, this one game called Reynatis really stood out to me. it looks very heavily inspired by Final Fantasy Versus 13. i hope it gets an english release, because it looks really cool! any japanese game with a modern setting instantly grabs my attention... https://youtu.be/yY4o8QmvrEg?feature=shared
>>
>>357 Ive got a pre-order of the new ff7 game arriving soon, although its not for me... I've only just started playing ff7:remake. >>519 they will either be really good or just awful lol THERE IS.. a new monkey ball coming out which will be a fun time hopefully
>>
>>667 new trailer! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UYp1y3Jj2c i've only known about this game for five days, but it's already probably my most anticipated game of the year. i hope we get lots of trailers and a demo for this game...
>>
>>357 My Steam wishlist is full of upcoming games, and this is not even counting Early Access games whose full release hasn't come out yet Looking forward to trying each one of them!
>>
>>667 >>669 >i hope we get lots of trailers seems like i'm getting my wish, there's just a deluge of information coming out... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBzE1n0_O2M
>>
>>670 >koe Holy shit, hasn't this been in development for almost a decade now? I thought it was long dead. In the meantime the game was being made I already reached a somewhat satisfactory level of Japanese, so I don't know if it will be of any use for me now Hopefully it turns out to be good and help whoever is just starting to learn
