man this is so depressing. you would think that in 2025 it would be possible to reliably cross-compile stuff like the linux kernel so people wouldn't have to do this. like, imagine if you could rent a mainframe for some minutes to cross-compile your software - you could have all the benefits of source-based distros like gentoo or nixos even on old laptops and home computers
honestly I blame the c programming language, it's compilers and it's building systems, specially those that use feature detection like autotools. other languages that don't have this problem, it is solvable
