learning a dead language is one of the comfiest thing (u know, Latin, obscure ancient shit, or conlangs). unlike contemporary world languages, there's no sense of rush or deadlines, u just slowly learn at your own pace, this adds in the factor of the native speakers all are dead and gone there's even less pressure for u, u are just alone with the language, no one to bother u about. sure, grammatically correct, and all. but like i said, no pressure, u do what u want however u want anytime u want. oh, and besides, all these old ancient languages are just intrinsically superior than current contemporary ones, not because they seem "exotically ancient", but they are just... deeper. there's more depths, autiticism and worlds in them. conjugations? treat it like one of those hard games. it's all fucken daunting at first like "what the fuck this is all too much" but now that i literally can conjugate all latin verb tenses it's a very unique feeling. it takes time, and it won't be a day (unless you're one of those people from 200 years ago that just can) but it's worth it. and the end is far. u just know it'd be some years. but it's a long, long, slow and comfy videogame, and no one's forcing u to do anything.

are you learning a dead language right now? i think if i were to learn one it would be latin or ancient greek.

>>10117 op here, yeah, dabbling, its freaking hard though, you really need to memorize the tables or you'd walk limplegged like a lame when reading a sentence. not to mention all the other stuffs. to me i see three ways of going with these shits (latin, greek, etc) 1. u like the culture/ethnos quite much that u are fine if you are to larp as them 2. or u like linguistics in general as nerdy specific interest 3. or without any interest all u have to rely on is Sheer Pure Will, and u see how fortitous u are

>>10120 the best way to learn a language is by using the language (speaking, writing, ingesting) so learning a dead language is doubly hard because there's nobody to speak to laugh best of luck hikarin

>>

>>10134 there's a certain charm to being quite alone with a language that no one speaks. imagine being lvl 999 in a completely dead unpopulated mmo, it's very solitary, but there's a certain romanticism to it "it's all mine, alone".
