What are your thoughts on what happened to 4chan today?
>>
>>8091 So has anyone checked if the IP cloudflare is giving is the different or what?
>>
what happened i don't use 4chan
>>
>>8095 The site got hacked, mods' emails and IPs were leaked, the source code was made public, and now it is down. That's from what I've read, anyway. Apparently, the site was still using stuff from 2016 for security, so maybe this was inevitable.
>>
>the source code was made public I forced myself to look through the soyjak shithole thread and didn't find any links to sources.
>>
There was a thread on kf that was documenting it, but it looks like stuff started getting taken down. The thread featured the dump with the mod emails, funny enough, it didn't actually have any .gov addresses, like people keep saying there were on some other sites, but there were indeed a couple of .edu addresses, which is still really stupid.
>>
wtf I thought this was just another "4chan goes down for hours for no reason" what will happen now who am I going to discuss anime with I only have 4/a/
>>
>>8099 you could discuss anime here!
>>
>>8100 when /a/tards say "discuss anime" they "ogle at dickgirls"
>>
>>8097 Here's the link to the source code https://litter.catbox.moe/a8z45n.7z

>>8091 it... its over kakarot
>>
>>8091 when 4chan dies someday, i wonder where everyone on the less traversed boards will go? boards like /diy/, /out/, /xs/. i can't exactly think of an altchan that caters to those kinds of topics, assuming those posters would even switch to an altchan. sad to think that those communities may just simply vanish.
>>
>>8104 >i can't exactly think of an altchan that caters to those kinds of topics If there's a demand for it not being attended, people will create these boards somewhere, but as of now 4chan holds the whole demand for these topics.
>>
>>8102 Already saved though I have no idea why I need this shit
>>
>>8104 /xs/ users are stupid, they use apps to browse 4chan on their phone, they think all altchans are run by interpol it would just vanish and it would be a good thing
>>
>>8091 extreme monkeypaw moment with it being the who?
>>
I think its pretty funny the last post we have from before it got shut down was a chicken jockey post lol
>>
>>8091 who?'s won...
>>
(110.05 KB 778x451 GibB2QtXkAAh-58.jpg)
Hopefully it's down for good and we get a popular alternative with actually good mods. Maybe this is the one! But who am I kidding really
>>
>>8091 4chang has been especially bad, not in a “4chan was always shit” way but in an objectively worse way, since the 2016 election so it’s hard to feel sorry except for the fact that the containment is going to spill out everywhere else.
>>
if anyone's interested, i made an altchan refuge for /lgbt/ https://lgbtchan.org supports /lgbt/ board flags
>>
(223.67 KB 900x731 touhou 30.png)
>>8091 either 4chan is done for good, since it's now clear hiro hasn't updated the codebase in the eight fucking years it's been since moot left, or it'll be up again tomorrow like the last time the backend got leaked /qa/ is a cancer that just won't go away. all they do is raid 4chan boards, spam nasty wojak caricatures 24/7, and talk in incoherent babble that you'd have to be terminally online to decipher. the sourcecode and janitor IPs/emails being leaked is a nothingburger - they've been purged before, they can be again. it sucks that i can't be comfy on /jp/ and /lgbt/ anymore but i guess it means i have to find another place to chill on. dickswords just aren't the same and altchans always die off quickly, but 4chan never really stops being active
>>
its scary to ponder where all the worst of the worst on 4chan are gonna scramble to
>>
>>8105 But they won't find each other.
>>
Hi, how would you guys react if people take refuge here? This altchan is the only one I seem to enjoy the vibe of despite low activity, but don't want to disturb this community if you'd rather avoid activity spike
>>
(20.12 KB 150x150 nue htumbs up.png)
>>8123 i saw someone on wapchan wanted to organize a thing with kissu, here, and some other altchans to try and draw in more users. an anon on wapchan expressed a similar concern of not wanting undesirables to find these places, though. i do think more crossover between all the different /a/ and /jp/ altchans would be nice
>>
(13.39 KB 370x420 1743765825461453.png)
>>8119 I'm not even surprised if they finally decided to update their codebase and hire good mods after their shit got leaked to the public. And by that, purge /qa/, /pol/ and other "containment" boards once and for all, and I don't mean by just lock the boards like before. No, just erase their existence, delete their database. And make soyjaks and /pol/posting a bannable offense for 5 years, they have their own sites so fuck off to their nest. It proves time and time again that the entire idea and execution of these containment boards are useless, it just makes them feel welcome than trapped. And occasionally leak to other boards like how /pol/ did for years. No, what you need is MODERATION, which 4channel heavily lacks because of the shitty union, that got exposed in the wild thanks to the hack. >>8123 I do enjoy it here. I wonder if things I like (such as Touhou or Sonic) is allowed here to flourish, like how on 4chan /jp/ does.
>>
>>8123 as long as they're respectful and are genuinely wanting to take refuge here instead of shitting the place up then i don't see the issue. we love new hikarins.
>>
>>8124 yeah, figamin was talking about this. i'm not exactly sure what is being planned but i think a cross-chan event would be fun and this is an opportune time to do it.
>>
>>8124 >>8126 Very reassuring to read those replies, so thank you anons! Will lurk a bit more today before posting in other threads then, hope to have comfy times here
>>
>>8128 welcome newkarin, hope you stick around. this is the comfiest imageboard on the net after all.
>>
(533.00 B 80x60 1718747985235296.png)
Hope it helps spread awarenes of altchans and that when 4chan comes back it takes a different direction than the enshitification path it was going down to. >>8121 Those are the guys who hacked 4chan.
>>
>>8104 I mean for /sci/ there's Mathchan which is temporarily down.

>>8134 They touch dicks, supposedly
>>
>>8133 kissu's userbase can be kind of dickish sometimes (though that's definitely not exclusive to them, even someone here really pissed me off once and it made me stop using altchans for a while) but aside from that i don't really see the problem

I found funny how the tards can make so much noise and chaos even though they behave like children. This is my first time seeing a big event in the imageboard community so I'm also kind of glad And now I have to find an alternative to 4chan the problem is with finding a chan as frequented as 4chan, not just altchans
>>
(132.74 KB 708x1000 an expert.jpg)
>>8139 >chan as frequented as 4chan, not just altchans the only ones in that category are foreign imageboards, starting with the original Futaba, to Russian imageboards, German, Spanish There's no real "2nd 4chan" 4chan is 4chan, it's an absolute monopoly on western english-speaking imageboards

>>
>>8134 i made a post years ago, no shitpost nothing rude, no spam or anything like that. perm ban. i tried again maybe last year: vpns are blocked YOU MUST USE YOUR REAL IP (so we can ban u over nothing) it gives off fake nice vibes because its actually strict and no fun allowed, and the admin is a nasty control freak who feels entitled to info
>>
>>8144 well hikarin, we try to be comfy here. not really much for shitflinging and flame wars, although it does rarely happen. jaks and some nuspeak are banned at janny discretion. we also host a game night every month in the /v/ thread. i suppose it would depend on what board you're comparing things to, but i don't really browse 4chan anymore so i may not be the best for explaining lol. also we have cool emotes
>>
>>8149 >strict and no fun allowed 99% of the bans are CP spammers. rarely do posters get banned for genuine threads and posts. not allowing VPN posting is not uncommon either, 4chan and other chans do it. and calling syrno a control freak is pretty crazy lol he's pretty chill. don't be so angry hikarin.
>>
>>8152 Pretty sure he's talking about kissu lol
>>
>>8153 oh you're right he is lol. whoops i misread. sorry
>>
>>8125 >union What do you mean by this? The moderators had a union?
>>
>>8159 "Union" as a workplace. When jannitors can't do their job, and Hiroshimoot cares only bout money. Then it's a union of something.
>>
Deserved. I'm happy that places like this become more populated.

>>
>>8149 most of that applies to w*pchan as well
>>
It's nice that it's forced me to revisit every altchan to try and find where the splinters of communities went. I miss the threads from /jp/ and /c/ I had been following, but I'm thankful that you lads seem amicable in these trying times God bless, I'll not shit up your boards too much
>>
>>8125 >toohoo the site owner's name (syrno) is a bastardization of cirno who our mascot hikari-chan looks quite similar to no issues here >sonic i haven't really seen any sonic posting here but you're welcome to post about it if you'd like.

>>
>>8170 To be honest, it's a zero-sum situation. "Alt-chans" are only gaining a bit more activity because 4chan went down. The total pool of potential users is quite small and shrinking. Their time and willingness to go to different websites is finite.
>>
So long as your altchan does not welcome The Shitposting, you won't gain much of a userbase, for reasons easily deduced
>>
>>8173 h3 allows shitposting, just not soyjaks. there's quite a bit of shitposting here desu

Why is every comfy 4chan alternative lgbt coded by the way? I love this website but it's kinda annoying that you can't find a good altchan as a transphobe. You either have to troon out or soy out. This is the mentally sound straight man's burden. Forced to live as a diaspora across 109 different websites, surrounded by vile sarcasm, gays and soulless normalfags.
>>
(1.40 MB 360x238 1732334793172604.gif)
>>8175 Just because of some 2/3 people who are trannies does not make it a tranny website. 4chan was and never is a political soapbox just because of /pol/'s existence.
>>
>>8175 h3 is not a tranny site even if there are some here
>>
>>8176 >4chan was and never is a political soapbox just because of /pol/'s existence Not him, but 4chan allows most slurs and politically incorrect language and opinions in general, it only disallows racism outside of a few boards and the rule is poorly enforced anyway, so it's less censored than most "comfy" altchans like the ones mentioned ITT You don't have to be a /pol/tards to dislike that kind of moderation
>>
>>8175 >Why is every comfy 4chan alternative lgbt coded by the way? i do it as like a coalmine canary. i'm a straight cis guy and don't care about LGBT stuff but i made https://lgbtchan.org because chuds will instantly flip out when they enter the premises and can be swiftly removed, rather than letting a more generic site be poisoned over time by chuds and conspiracy theorists it's a good dividing line. if you're chill with trans people you're on one side and if you're not you're on the other, and this correlates nicely with posting quality and IQ
>>
>>8179 >if you're chill with trans people you're on one side and >if you're not you're on the other >and this correlates nicely with posting quality and IQ I don't care if someone is tranny or not, that shit doesn't make you as a person. But what I do care is that both side are as cancerous and annoying as each other. I saw it before.
>>
>>8179 That seems like an extremely gay thing to do as a straight man anon, but you do you
>>
honestly the creation of an /lgbt/ containment site is a fine idea to me. keeps the worst of them from polluting general sites with it. i'd rather not see threads about wanting to get molested by their family or crying about how ugly and sad they are. on the off chance i check /lgbt/ for the lulz most of it is shit like that
>>
>>8175 I don't necessarily think that's the case. I don't want to discuss politics since it's a waste of time just getting angry over shit I can't fix but trust me, I don't like trannies and I fucking detest Jews. Not a regular here, though, just checking it out. Mostly posting on some other altchans, none of which seem to have banned anyone for using the roody-poo word or anything.
>>
>>8184 lol @ the filter
>>
>>8184 Damn they brought back the old The Rock filters from 4chan.
>>
>>8179 you sound like a more insufferable person than the average lgbt to be honest
>>
>>8176 For like a decade it's been run by rapeape, a poltard who deliberately enabled his "containment board" to infect the rest of the site.
>>
>>8188 4chan got what?ed in real time during gamergate when moot started deleting threads about it. People always blame /pol/ tourists from 2016 when all of this is a direct consequence of moot trying to protect his roastie journo buddies. Would you rather be on a pro-GG or anti-GG 4chan is the question. 4chan was bound to get radicalized one way or the other, which wouldn't be that much of a problem if mods actually did their job instead of letting bots and spammers take over the website.
>>
>>8189 >what?ed Replace it with radicalized, since there's a filter on that word
>>
>>8189 Allowing GG discussion wouldn't have done shit to improve the site. rapeape wasn't onboard with it either btw. GG itself ended up being an abortive movement and nothing realistic would have changed that. I blame moot for creating pol in the first place. 4chan was meant to be for otaku, and pol was always a blight on it. Everything good to come out of 4chan, was the result of people with a genuine interest in their niche hobbies. Diluting the otaku focus is where things went wrong. In a roundabout way, this /qa/ thing is the comeuppance for that. Too bad it didn't happen sooner.
>>
>>8191 >Allowing GG discussion wouldn't have done shit to improve the site It certainly wouldn't have radicalized the website as much. As anons started flocking 8chan en masse and began nooticing everywhere as at that point it was the site's whole purpose. But I do agree that /pol/ should have never existed.
>>
>>8193 Nothing prevented them from deleting pol and enforcing rule 3 with extreme prejudice.
>>
>>8194 Their retardation prevented them from it. The game was rigged from the start. Moot sucked, Hiroshimoot is worse.

I'm more than a little peeved at what's happened. This is more of sharty's beef with the mods than any userbase and it does nothing but make most people hate them despite most anons proclaiming it's a good thing. Yes, we will bitch eternally about 4chan moderation, content and how crap it is. But we go there anyway because it's a one of a kind place, even if alt chans give you more quiet options. Personally, I find Hikari3 adorable and I'll stay here even when 4chan is back. And yes, it's coming back, they've said as much since they'll start taking maintenance seriously. they're more worried about staff retention since people fear getting doxed. sharty will get it's own payback soon enough, already recieving attacks from pissed anons. 4chan has also stated in a leaked email that they plan to persue legal action, which makes sense. As bad as 4chan is, it's not a place to that encourages raids or attacking other sites. That's still illegal. who? not only encourages it, but brags about it. That will get the admin team there in trouble. Personally, this is good for me. My most visited boards are /v/ and /pol/, two of the fastest boards on 4chan. As much as I make fun of tiktok kids for having a low attention span, I'm no better in my own way. This will help me take things slow at least. So I'll count this as a forced vacation.

>>8245 glad you're deciding to stay with us i agree that 4chan is special in ways that can't compare to altchans, but regardless altchans have their own charm and culture and can be quite nice. i don't even really browse 4chan anymore.
>>
Another 4chan refugee here! My thoughts are in line with >>8245 , the 4chan userbase did not deserve any of this. However, I find it hard to really blame the "jarty", as they wanna be called. The lot of them seem deeply mentally disturbed, and I just can't stay mad at people who aren't fully in control of themselves. The real blame, I feel, lies with the 4chan administration. No cybersec updates in 10 years? That's just asking for something like this to happen. Anyways! I may stay here, I may not. While I stay, I'll try my best to integrate into the culture here! Please do not hesitate to punish me for my sins!
